Do you remember being the "new kid" and showing up to the playground? I was a military brat, so I have plenty of experience being the new kid. I would nervously ask a group of kids, "Can I play, too?" Most kids were really nice and excitedly invited me to join in whatever game they were playing. Soon, I would make friends and was no longer the new kid! In some ways, I feel like that now. As a new artist, I feel like I am asking the community/world, "Can I play, too?" My thoughts often go to, "Am I good enough? Will I be accepted?" Gratefully, I am finding that the art world is much like the kids on the playground who showed kindness and acceptance toward me. The world of creatives is filled with people who are encouraging and quick to include newcomers, even taking them under their wing to teach them easier ways to do things. The painting has circles that are linked, although some seem to be linked tentatively...much like how I felt when asking if I can join in on the play. However, all the circles are linked and there is a sense of playfullness in the colors and the energy of the shapes. "Yes! Come play!"
