  • Medium: Oil pastel on paper

  • Subject Matter: Abstract Landscape

  • Type: Drawing

I don't typically draw flowers, but these very blue daisies showed up on the paper! I enjoyed the kaleidescope of colors dancing around the three daisies. This drawing projects a sense of playfulness and childlike freedom. However, the color of the blue daisies reflect a more somber mood to me...and as I studied the colors I used for the flowers, I noticed the red in the center of the flower. It almost appears as though they are wounded in a way. This reminds me of how difficult and awkward it felt to laugh after my father died. Exuding joy while being wounded reflects our wholeness and our humanity. We can be both at the same time.
