Beauty in its Time

This piece was born out of an intention to create something calm and serene...a departure from many of my other works. Beginning with the initial layers, I sensed a moodiness as I chose colors and began mixing the paint. I initially thought this painting was going to be a completely abstract work. However, as art has a tendency to do, it guided me to what it wanted to be...an abstract landscape. After multiple layers of paint, mark making, acrylic inks, and glazing, I stepped back and appreciated the message it offered. In Ecclisiates 3:11, we are reminded that beauty comes in its own time. Like this painting, beauty revealed itself in its own time as I persistently laid layer after layer down on the canvas. As you are invited closer in to view the details, the evidence of previous layers can be appreciated. I really like the "storminess" of the landscape. In essence, a calm in the midst of a storm. Life can be so much like this. As we weather the storms of life, we can be grateful for the calm that God provides to us. His peace, His presence, and His reassurance that He is always with us. I invite you to see if you are able to find the greatest symbol of God's love for us in this painting!
